It's possible to trade profitably on the Forex, the nearly $2 trillion worldwide currency exchange market. But the odds are against you, even more so if you don't prepare and plan your trades. According to a 2014 Bloomberg report, several analyses of retail Forex trading, including one by the National Futures Association (NFA), the industry's regulatory body, concluded that more than two out of three Forex traders lose money. This suggests that self-education and caution are recommended. Here are some approaches that may improve your odds of taking a profit. Prepare Before You Begin Trading Because the Forex market is highly leveraged -- as much as 50 to 1 -- it can have the same appeal as buying a lottery ticket: some small chance of making a killing. This, however, isn't trading; it's gambling, with the odds long against you. A better way of entering the Forex market is to carefully prepare. Beginning with a practice account is helpful and risk-free. While you're trading in your practice account, read the most frequently recommended Forex trading books, among them Currency Forecasting: A Guide to Fundamental and Technical Models of Exchange Rate Determination, by Michael R. Rosenberg is short, not too sweet and highly admired introduction to the Forex market. Forex Strategies: Best Forex Strategies for High Profits and Reduced Risk, by Matthew Maybury is an excellent introduction to Forex trading. The Little Book of Currency Trading: How to Make Big Profits in the World of Forex, by Kathy Lien is another concise introduction that has stood the test of time. All three are available on Amazon. Rosenberg's book, unfortunately, is pricey, but it's widely available in public libraries. "Trading in the Zone: Master the Market with Confidence, Discipline and a Winning Attitude," by Mark Douglas is another good book that's available on Amazon, and, again, somewhat pricey, although the Kindle edition is not. Use the information gained from your reading to plan your trades before plunging in. The more you change your plan, the more you end up in trouble and the less likely that elusive forex profit will end up in your pocket. Diversify and Limit Your Risks Two strategies that belong in every trader's arsenal are: Diversification: Traders who execute many small traders, particularly in different markets where the correlation between markets is low, have a better chance of making a profit. Putting all your money in one big trade is always a bad idea. Familiarize yourself with ways guaranteeing a profit on an already profitable order, such as a trailing stop, and of limiting losses using stop and limit orders. These strategies and more are covered in the recommended books. Novice traders often make the mistake of concentrating on how to win; it's even more important to understand how to limit your losses. Be Patient Forex traders, particularly beginners, are prone to getting nervous if a trade does not go their way immediately, or if the trade goes into a little profit they get itchy to pull the plug and walk away with a small profit that could have been a significant profit with little downside risk using appropriate risk reduction strategies. In "On Any Given Sunday," Al Pacino reminds us that "football is a game of inches." That's a winning attitude in the Forex market as well. Remember that you are going to win some trades and lose others. Take satisfaction in the accumulation of a few more wins than losses. Over time, that could make you rich!

GREEK CHICKEN PASTA SALAD

This Gréék Chickén Pasta Salad comés togéthér quickly and éasily and makés about four largé méal-sizéd portions, or about six smallér sidé dish portions. It’s also a gréat candidaté for potlucks, and would bé supér éasy to doublé, or évén triplé if néédéd.

Yés, just maké suré you pound your chickén bréast to an évén thicknéss, about 3/4-inch thick béforé marinating. Making suré thé chickén is thin and évén will hélp it cook quickly without drying it out. You can also filét your chickén bréast into two thinnér piécés, or usé chickén téndérs.
INGRéDIéNTS
MARINADé/DRéSSING
  • 1 lémon ($0.59)
  • 1/4 cup olivé oil ($0.64)
  • 3 clovés garlic, dividéd ($0.24)
  • 1/2 Tbsp driéd orégano ($0.07)
  • 1/2 tsp salt ($0.02)
  • Fréshly crackéd péppér ($0.03)

SALAD
  • 2 bonéléss, skinléss chickén thighs ($2.10)
  • 8 oz. pasta (any shapé) ($0.50)
  • 1 béll péppér (any color) ($1.50)
  • 4 oz. grapé tomatoés* ($1.00)
  • 1/2 cucumbér (1.5 cups dicéd) ($1.00)
  • 1/4 bunch parsléy ($0.20)
  • 2 oz. féta ($1.12)

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Usé a zéstér, microplané, or small-holéd chéésé gratér to rémové thé zést from thé lémon. Sét thé zést asidé. Squéézé thé juicé from thé lémon into a séparaté bowl. You'll nééd at léast 1/4 cup juicé.
  2. Préparé thé dréssing and marinadé by mincing two of thé thréé clovés of garlic and combining thém with 1/4 cup lémon juicé, olivé oil, orégano, salt, somé fréshly crackéd péppér, and a pinch of thé lémon zést. Whisk thésé ingrédiénts until wéll combinéd.
  3. Placé thé chickén thighs in a small zip lock bag and add half of thé dréssing, saving thé rést to add to thé salad latér. Mincé oné moré clové of garlic and add it to thé bag with thé chickén and marinadé. Squéézé thé air out and massagé thé bag to maké suré thé thighs aré wéll coatéd in thé marinadé. Réfrigératé thé thighs for at léast 30 minutés.
  4. Whilé thé chickén is marinating, cook thé pasta according to thé packagé diréctions, drain in a colandér, and lét cool.
  5. Héat a skillét ovér a médium flamé. Oncé hot, add thé marinatéd chickén thighs and cook on éach sidé until théy aré wéll brownéd and cookéd through (about 5 minutés éach sidé). Théré should bé énough oil in thé marinadé to kéép thé méat from sticking. Rémové thé cookéd chickén from thé skillét and lét it rést for about fivé minutés. Oncé slightly cooléd, chop thé chickén into smallér, bité-sizéd piécés.
  6. Whilé thé chickén is cooking, préparé thé rést of thé végétablés. Dicé thé cucumbér and béll péppér. Slicé thé tomatoés in half (or dicé if using Roma or régular tomatoés). Pull thé parsléy léavés from thé stéms and givé thém a rough chop.
  7. Finally, build thé salad. Add thé cookéd and cooléd pasta to a largé bowl. Top thé pasta with thé cucumbér, béll péppér, tomatoés, parsléy, and choppéd chickén. Crumblé thé féta ovér top and add a pinch or two of thé lémon zést. Pour thé rémaining dréssing ovér thé salad and toss to coat. Sérvé immédiatély or réfrigératé until réady to éat.
